I take photos of things that I find interesting. If you like what you see, I’d love to sell some of them to you.

Nostalgia redux

Well this is interesting. I’ve had a blog over on blogger since Dec 2024, and have been a somewhat sporadic poster over there. But I’ve always been frustrated with the crappy user experience and limitations.

So a couple of days ago I went back and logged onto my long defunct WordPress account. Way back when I used to have a blog on WordPress from 2007 till 2010. Almost 200 posts. In other words, the Dark Ages. Lo and behold, all the content from that old blog (thegistofit(dot)org) were still stored there. My last post from thegistofit(dot)org was from Oct 2010.

After browsing through all the old posts, I’ve deleted about 90% of them and migrated the others over to this new blog for posterity sake. No worries, the ones I deleted really weren’t that interesting, or were only single photos with no comment associated with them. This was in the days before social media really took off. Most of the photos were linked to my Flickr account, which I deleted several years ago, and I really didn’t want to re-populate blog posts with new photos.

It’s been fun going back and rereading posts from almost 20 years ago, pre-social media. A few of them still ring true today. I was really happy that I found a tutorial I had written back then on post-processing digital infrared images. I dropped out of doing any serious photography from about 2011 till 2020 for various reasons, and had thought that those IR tutorials were lost.

Anyway, I’ve successfully migrated my old WordPress blog from thegistofit(dot)org over to this new blog. I still have a few images that I need to relink. But if you’re in the mood for a trip down the pre-social media memory lane, check out the posts from Oct 2010 and earlier.
